Sunset Paradise

A lot of the tools that I developed and processes I automated were used in the development of this series. I undertook a lot of the research and development to create the processes used to produce the final episodes and touched on a lot of different engine components throughout development. My main achievements were:

1. The animation blending system used to make a lot of the animation sequences in UE4;
2. The face-changing system that was extremely user-friendly for the visual artists;
3. The collar manipulation (through Control Rig) on the character, Whisk, in the third episode onwards;
4. The crowd system (built through UE4’s AI System) in the background of various episodes;
5. Benedict’s UFO beams seen in Episode 9 – I didn’t make the particle effect but I made the sequencer-friendly system that allowed the artists to position/attach the beams and move the guns on the UFO through an Animation Blueprint;
6. The final beach scene in Episode 10 – I made the chain simulations for the various shackles in this scene through runtime physics, and I also used my crowd system to place the background actors. I also manually placed a few background characters as Easter Eggs that were visible in the background of various scenes in previous episodes.

This role involved assisting in the various Post-Production aspects of developing the series. A large portion of this was implementing Quality Assurance fixes to the final Level Sequences and assisting with renders at various stages of the Post-Production pipeline.
